Yes, believe it or not, less than 15 minutes after this image was captured, it started pouring down rain! I had arranged to meet the "B" family at the Harbor Beach Marriott in Fort Lauderdale at 6:30 p.m. It looked pretty iffy when I arrived, but we decided to go for it. I got the kids on the beach, and got a few good shots, but before the grandparents made it to the beach, the summer storm was in full swing. The family was great about it though, and I was able to go back a couple days later to complete the shoot.

A mother and daughter photo shoot at the beach-- the weather was perfect, the subjects both looked great, and the love between the two of them definitely came through. As the mother of a daughter myself, it was enough to make me a little teary-eyed. What a fabulous gift to give to your daughter!

Can you tell which boy is shy and introverted, and which one is outgoing and tiny bit mischievous?

And what about the colors of the sky and water in this picture?? This is what the beach looks like on Key Biscayne when the sun is setting. This photograph was taken on the last day of the year, 2008. I had not been to Crandon Park Beach for several years, and I had forgotten how different a beach on the bay is, compared to a beach on the ocean. It is calm and still, and the light from the sky reflecting on the water is quite spectacular.

This time from a couple of newly-weds. As a Christmas gift, R. and A. are surprising their families back in Massachusetts with photographs of the two of them on the beach in Florida. I can imagine there's nothing like receiving a beach portrait in the middle of a cold, New England winter to make you wish you were in Florida. :) Watch out, you two-- you may have an abundance of house guests in the near future. :)

It's the latest rage in Wedding Photography! Originating in the mid-west, "Trash the Dress" photo-shoots are now happening all over the country. It is a concept some find rather distasteful ("What do you mean you going to TRASH your wedding dress?"), but it has evolved to mean different things to different brides and photographers. I've decided to call it "Love the Dress." The idea is to give a women a chance to don her wedding gown again for a fun and unique photoshoot.

Last week I had the opportunity to join five other photographers for a "practice" TTD session in Miami Beach. A fellow photographer modeled for us as we made our way down Lincoln Road and ended up at the beach. Here are some of the fun shots I got!
